Organizing
So I know I can’t be the only developer in the DC metro area who’s interested in Palm’s new webOS or the Pre. There’s gotta be, what, at least two more of us?
Point being, why don’t we organize a meetup? Let’s share what we’ve learned (so far all most of us will have done is glean hints from the piddly little videos Palm has put out, some of us just might have juicy information from working with the pre-release SDK), what we’re learning and what we know from related projects, so we can all attack this new platform as best we can.
In the coming months as new information is released (via the Rough Cuts book O’Reilly has started releasing in increments, via gossip sites, via official videos) I will be posting news here and via Twitter (http://twitter.com/thynctank) and look forward to hearing what other locals have to say.
Once the SDK/tools are finally released, we’ll arrange a meetup somewhere in the area, but for the time being it’s all about the benjamins news bytes/documentation leakage, baby.
So join up, contribute and let’s do the damned thing together!

Hey, Alice here. I’m trying to put together the event in Baltimore. Perhaps we could join forces to get this Baltimore-DC area rocking! Maybe even combine events and meet somewhere half way (Laurel, Columbia).

Laurel or Columbia could work (perhaps alternating), maybe for a monthly meetup or something. I’m definitely interested in mixing it up with other webOS dev enthusiasts once there’s something to code against.
I sure wish O’Reilly would put out another chapter or so of that book! (I seem to remember hearing someone say “we don’t plan on publishing anything further until the SDK is released” though…)

I’m in! Anyone else in N.Va?

I’m up for Laurel or Columbia or DC . . . even Baltimore on a weekend. I’m not much of a developer – more of an idea type, but I’m excited enough about this new Web OS to go back and hit the books (or at least find someone that could bring my ideas to code).
There used to be loads of Palm SDK experts in the area – where are they? Maybe we should post on Craigslist.

Is preDevCamp happening in DC on August 8th? I know there isn’t much time, but I’d be interested and willing to help organize something.

I’m also taking a few stabs at developing for the Pre. It’s been a while since I was this excited about a platform and a device. Let’s see what we can do together in the DC area!
